Fake Fashion is an ongoing "subsidiary" project started in 2021. All the images are selected from my massive library with more than 100,000 images since I have been engaged in fashion photography for over a decade. Some of the images are chosen from the "eliminated" photos of certain commercial commission projects, the rest are chosen within the aesthetic frame of the "fashion perspective" that represent my personal concept. By applying the contrasts between the two selected materials, weakened the commissioners in regular commercial photography. By acting as the both parties, I completed an intervention and raised questions that directed and executed fully by myself.
Fake Fashion reserved the visual language of fashion photography, such as high contrast pink, colour scheme, extravagant hair and makeup, polka dots, etc., Further more, fashion practitioners, males and snapshots
related to the brand logo in daily life also become the focus of my attention. After fashion photography lost the "temptation of consumption" what is it really trying to express? I try to create a sense of conflict and drama with "commercial photography", which has no actual commercial function, and explore issues such as fashion discourse, consumerism, and the compression of individual emotions in the contemporary social context.
